Economic change creates new opportunity for insurance and financial planning professionals. - Help a client leave a charitable legacy that will last beyond their lifetime.

- Collaborate with attorneys and CPA’s to prospect for new clients.

- Collaborate with attorneys and CPA’s to build effective wealth preservation strategies.

- Protect a client’s need for privacy, even after their death.

- Design effective estate planning strategies that enable total client control of their estate, even after death or incapacitation (example: the Terry Schivo incident).

- Provide for heirs of an estate with special needs.

- Ensure that a client’s pets are protected and provided for after their death.

Mark E. Wight

Mark is President and Founder of Idaho Estate Planning, a law firm focused solely on estate planning. Mark graduated from Utah State University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies. Mark’s legal career began in 1985, after he graduated from J. Reuben Clark School of Law, Brigham Young University spending two years at the Department of the Interior in Washington D.C.

Mark moved his family to Idaho in 1987 and has worked in private practice ever since. While his practice has always included wills, trusts and probate work, it was in 2001 that Mark focused his practice entirely on estate planning. Mark has co-authored several manuals for attorneys and has regularly taught attorneys and other professionals on the subjects of estate and legacy planning as well as asset protection and tax planning. Mark is also a frequent lecturer to financial professionals and insurance agents on the same topics.

Mark has also been involved with volunteer work for the Court Appointed Special Advocate (“CASA”) program, representing the guardians ad litem who are appointed by the Court to represent abused or neglected children. Mark received the CASA Attorney of the Year Award in 2006. He also earned the Denise O’Donnell-Day, Pro Bono Award in 2003, for fifteen years of service in the CASA program.

Mark is also active with the Boys Scouts of America. He and his wife JoAnn reside in Boise and have six children and four grandchildren
